To My New Friend:
Does the world really need another musician, or company that develops musicianship? Considering all of the current economic challenges most families and companies are bearing, and the over-abundance of out-of-work musicians claiming they can truly teach 'any style', then the logical answer could most likely be: 'no, the world is just fine as it is; thank you.'
But, thank goodness life isn't always "logical"!
So... 2 good questions to ask are:
1) WHY should you invest in your life?
2) WHY could Studio 16 Vocal Company combine logic and enrichment for you?
One answer is simple:
Even though logic makes our lives work, enrichment makes our lives fulfilled.
I've made it a personal decision to implement wonderful components in my life that both "make sense" and "make me happy." And, I hope that you can find both of those components available through Studio 16 Vocal Company for yourself.

Artistic Philosophy
Music is subjective, but quality musicianship bridges stylistic divides. Whether you're a corporate event planner, pastor, school official, or a bride-to-be, you deserve quality and responsible musicianship for your venue!
Recognizing and using great technical artistic skill, combined with attentive follow-through and clear communication is at the heart of our Artistic Philosophy.
Studio 16 Vocal Company is different because we value artistic excellence AND responsible communication.
Teaching Philosophy
To teach, is, to learn. Being a avid performer provides a realistic perspective in communicating and experiencing the complexities of theory and performance application.
In other words:
Because we're performing, we understand how to both apply technical skills into a LIVE setting AND create a performance that engages audience interaction.
Largely in dominant music culture, classical music is revered as THE only kind of REAL music there is. And, while there are wonderful skills to be learned through the classical genre, this is just what they are: "skills". Once you learn the "skills", you can apply it to whatever your vibe is.
So, all this to say:
You as the student, is largely in charge of guiding song selection. And, if you're into R&B, we can teach you the skills how to sing or play piano well, and then you can apply that to R&B songs.
Studio 16 Vocal Company is different because we value learning theory and skill AND learning to perform so an audience will enjoy it.
Student Artistry Venues
Music was designed to bring fulfillment, perspective, and joy! To accommodate great venues that will foster great artistry for a student, we have provided the following:
1) Spring and Holiday Concert(s)
Studio 16 Vocal Company puts on 2 Major Concerts annually; one in the Spring, and one at Christmas. Each student selects a song in the genre of their choice, and the company collectively hires a band to play for the singers at the concert. We rent a great space, with a great sound system, and put on a great family show! This free venue to the public always draws a large crowd with large support!!
2) Coffee Shop Open Mic-Nights
Quarterly, the company will sign up for time slots at a local Twin Cities coffee shop hosting an Open Mic Night. Each student selects a song in the genre of their choice, and gets an opportunity to perform in this intimate setting.
3) Individual Outlets
With a wide variety of students, comes a wide variety of individual outlets for performance. For example, if a student is involved with their local church, school, other community groupa, or your band, Studio 16 Vocal Company is always supportive of each student finding great opportunities for performance through their own networks.
Studio 16 Vocal Company is different because we value real artists, with real artistry venues, that real people will enjoy.
